Steve Fall out NBC Sports Boston recently interviewed the great Al Snow, who spoke about a number of hot button topics in the wrestling industry, including his thoughts on AEW holding media scrums after the show, which he believes is ruining the illusion the sport is trying to create . Highlights from the interview are below.

Tells that pro wrestling is an illusion:

“We all know that a magician up there doesn’t defy the laws of physics or alter reality. We know that, but they don’t reveal it to us as we watch it to ruin it for us… I want to keep that mystery, because that’s part of the fun.”

Why he believes post-show media scrums break the illusion of the product:

“That’s like going to watch The Avengers or Spider-Man and during the movie they literally look at you into the camera and say, ‘Yeah, you know, this is all BS, we’re not really doing this — I mean, it does not matter.’ You don’t want that. You want to be able to believe, you want to be able to give, and you want to be able to enjoy it and suspend that disbelief. The hardest thing you can achieve these days is to grab and hold someone’s attention, and then it’s even more challenging to hold those, hold them and then monetize them.why the hell would you keep these media scrums and then basically go up the ramp to the point where it’s almost impossible to get the general public’s attention and then hold and then make money?… You don’t think you’re able to get, amass, and build an audience that isn’t already built in as a wrestling audience.”
