Backstage news about Saraya possibly struggling for AEW

There are still many questions about Saraya’s AEW status and what her role will be with the company.

As noted, Saraya made her AEW debut on Wednesday’s Grand Slam Dynamite and came out to rescue AEW Interim Women’s World Champion Toni Storm and Athena from Britt Baker, Serena Deeb and Jamie Hayter after the Fatal 4 Way with Storm losing her title to Baker. retained, Deeb and Athena. AEW President Tony Khan later announced that Saraya is now “All Elite”.

While the Saraya vs. Baker match rumours, a new report from the Wrestling Observer notes that Saraya still hasn’t been medically cleared to wrestle since very recently.

Despite not being approved of late, the message is that Saraya wants to be cleared for action in the ring. It was striking that she did not touch anyone during her AEW debut on Wednesday. While at WWE, Saraya was not medically cleared to wrestle, but neither was anyone allowed to touch her.

Saraya is the special guest referee for a match between her brother Roy Knight and Zak Zodiak at the WAW Fightmare IV event on Saturday, October 15 in Norwich, England. Saraya’s family launched the British World Association of Wrestling promotion in 1994. Saraya last appeared for WAW on November 20, 2011, along with her mother Sweet Saraya to defeat Allison Danger and Alex Windsor. This was shortly before starting her WWE career with FCW.

Saraya left WWE in early July after the company chose not to re-sign her. She hasn’t wrestled since December 2017 after sustaining a neck injury at a WWE live event, leading to her retirement from in-ring action a few months later. Saraya has since done some non-wrestling work for WWE, but it was reported Wednesday afternoon that AEW had contacted her. It was also reported that the new WWE regime might be interested in having her back, but she debuted for AEW just hours later.
