AEW star Brian Pillman Jr. appeared recently on the Café De René with René Duprée program to discuss his run as a member of the Varsity Blonds, and how unhappy he was when the duo lost their servant, Julia Hart. Pillman believes that by going to the House of Black, Hart caused the Blonds to lose the spark that made them the favorite of the underdog babyface fans, suggesting that their time as a tag team may be over. Highlights from the interview are below.

Says that once the Varsity Blonds lost Julia Hart, they lost their spark:

“Once we lost [Julia Hart]we lost our lead and our spark that made us a good babyface group that could have come by. […] But someone came in and decided she would be better with… [House of Black]. That’s just how it goes. I was definitely not happy about it to be quite honest. It is what it is. It’s business. I thought what really kept us from seeing the Varsity Blondes’ true potential was that we lost her before we really got going.

Thinks people will enjoy looking back at the Varsity Blonds:

“It was quite hard for me at that point in my career to take that apart. But I’m really happy with how it turned out. Really happy with the moment she had at the pay-per-view. Very happy with it are at AEW in general I don’t think the Varsity Blondes were the most creative extension of myself. […] But I think people will look back on the Varsity Blondes with great pleasure. Who knows what the future holds for us?”
