WWE Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley recently appeared on The A2theK podcast to discuss a wide variety of topics, including how the Usos kindly asked for permission to use the Dudley Boyz 3-D finisher. Highlights from the interview are below.

Says the Usos came to him at a live event to ask for permission to use the 3D:

“They came to me at a live event. I think I produced it with Jamie Noble, and they asked me – we would talk and record things. When we worked with The Usos, they talked about when we would hit the 3D on them, and they said, ‘Yeah, D-Von’, especially Jey because Jey is so energetic, he said, ‘Yeah! We get the 3D, BANG!’ He said, “I was talking to my brother the other day, and I was like, why don’t we ask D-Von if we can use the 3D?”

How it was an honor for them to ask him:

“I said, ‘Shit, it’s an honor and a pleasure to do that for you. I wouldn’t have it any other way,'” continued Dudley. “If my boys wanted to wrestle, which they are wrestling now, but the day that they’re on the main stage, they’re going to want to use 3D too,” I said, “but you can do it now. No one else is doing it. Plus, you’re paying tribute to me and Bubba.”

Recalls how they first moved:

“I remember The Usos playing with my sons in event catering, throwing paper plates like Frisbees, and it’s one of those. Thengs, then I look over the ring and it’s The Dudleyz versus The Usos and I’m like, ‘Wow, talk about the change. “Good God, it drove me crazy,” he said. “So they come up to me and ask me, ‘Is it okay if we use The 3D?’ I looked at them and said F Yes, but I didn’t say ‘F’ You know what I said I said ‘I would love it if you guys would do that I showed them and told them different things about how they had to do it keep the opponent’s legs closed and make them stand up even if he comes back stay upright don’t fall backwards with them when they hit it the first time i was at home recovering from back surgery when I saw it. I look at the pay-per-view, and suddenly I looked and said, “They just hit 3D! Did they just hit 3D?” I was like, ‘Oh shit, they did that,’ he continued. ‘Then of course the fans were like, ‘I can’t believe that 3D, that’s disrespectful.’ Then I went on Twitter and said, ‘Go yourself.’ I go, ‘They asked for permission to use it. They didn’t have to ask, but they asked for permission. They were nice about it, and they hit it off perfectly. Leave these boys alone.’ Let the new generation be what you want us to be. Because when me and Bubba, and The Hardy Boys, and Edge and Christian came on the scene, nobody believed in us.”
