AEW TBS champion Jade Cargill wants to be the female version of WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Cargill recently spoke with Kate Feldman of The New York Daily News and revealed where she sees her career going. Cargill noted that in addition to pro wrestling training, she also takes acting and improv classes, with the dream of making movies, including comedy, action, or even horror. Cargill wants to follow in the footsteps of The Great One.
“I strive to be like a female Rock. I really. I think I have the look, I think I have the look,” she said.
Cargill said she likes to work. She shared how she wants to get good at pro wrestling before continuing her journey, and how her husband, former MLB player Brandon Phillips, wishes she would enjoy retirement with him.
“My wife, if he were here right now, he would say to you, ‘Hey, I want her to sail off the coast of Italy with me and enjoy this retirement.’ But I like to work,” said Cargill. “I like to push the needle and do things that people say I can’t do. I like a challenge. So that’s something I’d like to get into in my next trip, but right now it’s struggling. I want to be good at this before I move on to the next hurdle.”
Cargill has won all 37 singles/tag matches since her debut at the Dynamite on March 3, 2021, where she teamed up with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal to defeat Red Velvet and Cody Rhodes. Cargill will defend its title against Diamante in the Grand Slam edition of AEW Rampage on Friday.
