Wrestling Inc. recently interviewed veteran umpire Jimmy Korderas, who gave his take on last night’s AEW Grand Slam Dynamite from Arthur Ashe Stadium, where he criticized the umpire taking place during the show. Watch highlights from the interview below.

How There Was a Referee Distraction in Jericho vs. Claudio and Swerve In Your Glory vs. The Acclaimed:

“It happened in the first game; okay, we get that. It happened in this match too, and it doesn’t look good. The referee’s distraction should be there to help the heel get heat, the heel team to get heat. Don’t mislead the referee because he looks stupid and looks like they’re trying to look away so they don’t see the spot.”

Says having repeated spots makes the refs look bad on the match’s talent and agents:

“And that’s how it felt to me, it felt like the umpire was just trying to look away so he couldn’t see the spot behind his back… It just didn’t make sense, ‘Oh, I’m just looking here’, and then it doesn’t just fall on the referee, it falls on the talent, it falls on the agent who produces that match, and things like that.”
