joke recently interviewed former WWE and ROH superstar Maria Kanellis, who spoke to the podcast about her newly formed Women’s Wrestling Army promotion, if she ever plans to compete for WWA, and if she’s interested in working with Joshi Promotions. Highlights are below.

She says she will never wrestle for her Women’s Wrestling Army promotion:

“No. There’s a problem that arises when someone who is on TV is also in a position of power. It should never become a competition. For me, that doesn’t work. I can’t give my entire focus to a company if I try my shit over to get [laughs]. If it’s supposed to be about me, it’s gotta be about me. I won’t do it half way. If I got into that mind space, something should have happened. “Oh, you’re going to USA Network, they really want you to have a match.” When Netflix says, “We love your show, we want it on Netflix, we really want Maria to have a match.” Okay, I’ll have a match. A sponsor comes along and everyone gets a fantastic payday, fine, I’ll put myself in there, a competition. I have no wish. I was done at WrestleMania. I walked out and thought, ‘I’m done, I don’t want to be here.’ I want to be here to produce and I don’t want to wrestle with my husband.”

Shows interest in working with Joshi promotions:

“Yes. We do. With COVID, it’s still a bit difficult, but yes, we do. Some of the girls we work with now have connections with people, so they send a group and work all over the country. That’s what we try to do.”
