AEW star and current Interim Women’s Champion Toni Storm recently spoke with TV Insider to hype tonight’s Grand Slam Dynamite from Arthur Ashe Stadium, where Storm will defend her title in a fatal quadruple showdown against Britt Baker, Athena and Serena Deeb. Highlights from the interview can be found below.
Says everyone is happy and proud to be part of AEW:
“It’s been really fun. Everyone is really happy. Everyone in my neighborhood feels really proud to be there. I love it. I think it’s a very nice dressing room. I think Tony [Khan] has the right idea to bring fresh, new and exciting things to our TVs every Wednesday and Friday. I am definitely happier. I think it’s a very good atmosphere. I think that forces me to work even harder. I am improving a lot because I have that beautiful environment. We have the hiccups. Every locker room in pro wrestling has its mistakes, but I think I’m in a good place overall.”
What is the state of the women’s department:
“It is a story as old as time. Wrestling for women struggles to get the same amount of time as the guys. We are in a different position, but I really believe we are on the right track. We have a dressing room full of hardworking and talented women who I believe are the future. It’s going to change the whole game. I think we will overcome and get more time and see more emphasis on ourselves. But we do the hard work. I have a lot of confidence in this whole division. I am proud to be at the top and will do everything I can to push it where it needs to be. I am proud of everyone there. I choose to be positive. I think little by little there will be more emphasis on us in AEW. We just have to keep breaking that door. I also think consistency will get us there.”
