AEW President Tony Khan appeared on In the Kliq to promote tonight’s Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Here are the highlights:
How far in advance does the plan agree:
“Well, that’s what I was thinking about all summer, about All Out, Grand Slam, and then building up to Full Gear. You have to be sharp in this business and all sports because injuries happen, unexpected circumstances happen and plans change. So we were ready to make changes when things happen, when injuries happen. Right now the roster is very healthy, very strong and coming together for one of the best events we’ve ever put together. So you know, you always have to be ready, watch, have plans, but then keep an eye on what’s happening. In this case, there were definitely some unexpected circumstances leading up to Grand Slam. We tried to make the most of it and I think we did because now Grand Slam tomorrow night is our most profitable TV event we’ve ever done for ticket sales. We’ve already set our TV record gate for tomorrow, and now I think it’s going to be great viewership across America, around the world.
The status of the Ring of Honor:
“If we can get the weekly TV up and running again, it would be even stronger. So wherever it ends up, TV streaming, I’d like to bring Ring of Honor back on a weekly basis and it’s a conversation I have quite often with Warner Brothers Discovery.”
