Trish Stratus revealed that she had an appendectomy this weekend.
The WWE Hall Of Famer noted in an Instagram post that she was experiencing pain in her lower right quadrant and then went to the hospital. She wrote the following:
“A reminder that if you ever have a nagging pain in your lower right quadrant – go to the emergency room…
After a cramped 10-hour travel day on Monday, I worked through the pain on Tuesday, preparing for an announcement (which I’ll post tomorrow). I have a pretty high pain tolerance so when I thought it was – cramping but ended up getting pretty severe I drove myself to an emergency and found out my appendix was about to burst – which can be really bad if it happens and like cause death and so I’m really glad I went to see it, you know, to avoid the whole dying thing.
Some takeaways – listen to your body. dr. Google told me that appendicitis was a pain in the lower right abdomen so it took me a while to think it was because the pain was all over my stomach at the beginning. But after I got the opinion of another Dr. Googled (read another article), I found it will start off as a pain in your stomach (was also tender to touch), but as the appendix becomes more inflamed the pain will migrate to the right side and progress to worse become. And boy did it. Turns out it’s an organ that has no function, so be on the lookout old friend.
I have 3 new scars to add to my body badges and one less organ… the recovery hasn’t been that bad so far, definitely manageable. I just wanted to check in! xo
Big thanks to my OR team at @mackenziehealth!!”
We wish Stratus a speedy recovery.
